Chris Ballard says this was the easiest pick since Quinton Nelson. That meant that the team knew who they wanted, knew what position they wanted first, and got their guy. Tyler Warren, the tight end from Penn State, fell to 14th for the Colts who didn’t need to trade down at all. The Jets passed early, then the Bears took Colston Loveland. Those hurdles removed, the Colts didn’t waste any time.
Warren is a do all tight end who caught 104 passes last season. 104! For Colts fans who remember the “good ol days” when you had guys like Dallas Clark, you may have found the next great one.
Indy has a pick remaining in each of the rounds of the draft. They’ll still need to find some pieces for the secondary, a guard, and a pass rusher at some point.
